A hammered steel backplate carrying two things at once: a heavy ring on a swept arm up top, and a J hook underneath. The ring takes a cowboy hat by the crown, a coiled rope or a bridle, and the hook below catches a coat, a scarf or a set of reins. One plate, two jobs. The plate edges are hammered by hand and the ring is bent and welded one at a time, so the dimples around the edge and the set of the ring vary from piece to piece. Yours will be its own. Backplate about 3 by 5.5 in, ring out about 5 in, about 9 in tall overall. About 1 lb 8 oz. Mild steel, linseed oil finish applied hot. Three screw holes. Screws are not included. Care: wipe dry, oil or paste wax once or twice a year. Indoor or covered use. Hand forged by N.J. Pawley.
